Brett Baddorf

Running quickly became a major part of Brett’s life when he realized it would put him through college; he attended Samford University, a small Div I school in Birmingham, Alabama. Brett says, “While running has been fun, and I like to think I've been somewhat successful at it during different times in my life, the greatest joy I have from running is the opportunity it constantly gives me to do other things. Running has given me so much, what am I giving back? If I have no good answer to that question then to hell with any step I take out there!”

Bryan Baddorf

Bryan competed in his first track season at 13. He went to college at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He excelled there, breaking 3 school records and winning a conference title in the 10,000M. He signed on with Breakaway after deciding to give back to the sport that had given him so much. Bryan says, “I’ve always liked local run shops because of what they do for the fitness community and their involvement with the sport… I knew that Breakaway is Memphis’ version of the home grown real deal.” He has won every major road race in town. He enjoys long hard runs with his friends and a cool down with Boscos beer.

Alex Bransford

Alex was a swimmer from age 10 until 16, when he decided to switch to running because he was tired of looking at black lines all day! At White Station he ran cross-country and track. He was captain of both his senior year and competed 3 times at the Footlocker Cross Country race in Charlotte, NC. He has run the Memphis half twice with a best time of 1:17. He completed his first marathon in October 2008, at the Marine Corps Marathon. Now a student at Georgetown University, Alex is a member of the Triathlon Team and was the 9th freshman finisher at the USA Triathlon National Collegiate Championships in Texas.

Stacy Chick

The hottest CHICK at Breakaway. When not leading workouts down by the river, Stacy runs... Nicknamed "Quadzilla", and with pink streaks in her hair, you won't fail to miss her flying by at local races. She is a qualified personal trainer, teaches aerobics at the Fogleman YMCA and developed the River Workout Fitness Program.

Justin Day

Growing up in the countryside of South West England, Justin always had a love for the outdoors, but it wasn’t until he moved to rural Japan in 2004 that he developed his passion for running. Led by his mentor Kenju Suzuki, he discovered the varying worlds of road, trail and mountain running. After moving to Memphis in 2008, Justin completed his first 50K trail race at Slyamore in Arkansas.

Chris Moore

Chris was born, raised, and began his running career in Dallas, Texas. His first and only sport was Track and Field. After years of competing in summer, middle and high school track, Chris moved to Memphis to start his collegiate career. He is currently racing for Rhodes College where he is studying Biology and Anthropology.

Michael Morelli

Michael has been running since the 6th grade, when he found out that running would get him out of gym class! A track and cross country runner at Germantown High School, he competed in the 400M, 800M, 4x800M, 1,600M and 3,200M. Michael’s PRs include 4:50 in the 1,600M and 16:53 in the 5K. He completed his first Marathon, the St. Jude Memphis Marathon, in December 2009. A connoisseur of all things sugary, Michael can often be heard saying, “You can turn your back on a person, but you can never turn your back on a muffin.”

Tara Walter

Tara started running when she was 23. Since then she has run countless races, from the 5K to the marathon. A Boston qualifier on 2 occasions, the marathon is her favorite distance. She says, "It’s amazing what your body can do when you train and put your mind to it. I run because I can. Plus, it keeps me looking and feeling young!" She helped to train runners for the Inaugural Rock ‘N' Roll Marathon in San Diego in 1998 with Team in Training, and the Austin Marathon in 2001 with RunTex.
